The winter sports season runs from approximately mid-November through early February. Winter sports offered at NAHS include Basketball, Wrestling, Swimming, Riflery and Cheerleading.
Congratulations to Chris Henderson, N. Atlanta’s first region 5 AAA Area Champion. NAHS Wrestlers David Fair, Nick Middlebrooks, Chris Henderson, Chaz Moulder and Clyde Thomas all qualified for the State Sectional Wrestling Tournament. NAHS Wrestling Warriors took 4th place as a team wrestling against 16 other teams at the Titan Cup Invitational hosted by Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Roswell. Individual wrestlers placed:Chaz Moulder placed 2nd at Heavyweight (pictured below); David Fair placed 4th at 103lbs; Clyde Thomas placed 2nd at 112lbs; Jim Russell placed 4th at 135lbs; Chris Henderson placed 4th at 160lbs (pictured below); Thomas Cheese placed 2nd at 215lbs. There is a newcreature to fear in the water: the swimmers of the North Atlanta Water Warriors. This season, the swim team isdevouringtheir competition!
The girls squad hasshown the girls at Grady and Mays that they are a force to be reckoned with andthey are itching to make State qualifying times this coming Saturday, January3oth, at Westminster’s Metro Meet.
But it is the boy’ssquad that is putting fear into the hearts of all the competition. Already, the 200 free relay team hasproven to us all that you don’t have to be an upperclassman to swim at theState level. Composed of twofreshmen, Samuel Boatwright and Dillon Maebry, one sophomore, RehanBhinwandalla, and one junior, Neal Shadle, the 200 free relay team came inunder state qualifying times by 1.20 seconds with a final time of 1:40.76. Samuel has also qualified for the Statemeet in four other individual events!
Next time you dive in the pool, make sure you’re wearing the black NAHS suit and silver NAHS cap,because you do not want to end up like the rest of our competition, left behind in the trail of our bubbles!
