North Atlanta High School prides itself in offering every student the opportunity
for intellectual and personal growth. The school is organized into three Small Learning Communities (SLCs): the Center for International Studies, the Center for Business Hospitality and Leadership, and the Center for the Arts.
NAHS also
offers Advanced Placement (AP) courses and four foreign language
options (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish). Regardless of which
SLC each student chooses, they are encouraged to
develop not only academic and leadership skills, but also strong values
based on an ethic of tolerance and personal responsibility. Our
students are nurtured and challenged and when they graduate, they are
prepared to meet the demands of this new millennium.
North Atlanta
High School was formed by the Atlanta Board of Education in September
1991 by consolidating North Fulton High School and Northside High
School. The former Northside High School campus underwent a $15 million
renovation, which was completed in 1994. The enlarged facility offers
students a spacious setting conducive to all aspects of student life.
Well, that was sometime ago, and was only the beginning of many
improvements in the facilities and programs offered. Here are a few highlights of some exciting things currently in the works:
- NAHS has been identified as a top priority for renovation with SPLOST 3 funds; a $25 million renovation is underway and will be completed within 24 months, without students moving off campus. Renovation of bathrooms is nearly complete; renovation of lighting, HVAC, asthetics, classrooms, theatre, tennis courts and landscaping will begin immediately.
- NAHS has also been selected to be the pilot high school program to
receive 650 Linux Thin Client computers, and we also have a new Mac lab
with 30 computers on the way.
- Juilliard has also become an official partner with NAHS and will be
offering a summer workshop!
