North Atlanta Students Represent Atlanta Public Schools at the White House Initiative on Latino Education.
Eight North Atlanta High School students attended the White House community conversations to discuss the current state of public education for Latinos in America. The event was co-hosted by the University of Georgia and held at the Atlanta Latin American Association. The conversations were led by Juan Sepulveda, the director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans.
Students participated in whole-group panel discussions and small breakout sessions to provide answers for two questions: How can Latino education be improved? and What should the White House Initiative do to spearhead those efforts? Information gathered from this event will be gathered and shared with President Barack Obama as part of his efforts to establish a new presidential executive order to govern new initiatives for educating Latino students in public schools across our nation.
